Travel Info > Frequently Asked Questions > ADO Mahahual bus schedule

All Mexico Bus Schedule (available in English and Spanish)
For some reason, on the on-line system you can only reserve a seat on ADO to Limones from Cancun or Playa Del Carmen. However, it is easy to transfer to a bus going to Mahahual from Limones as long as you keep in mind the schedules shown below..

ADO bus schedule for Mahahual - to & from Chetumal and Cancun (city)

ADO is the 1st class bus servicing Mahahual. Other busses including the Riviera bus and Combis (passenger vans) are also traveling to Mahahual but we do not have their schedules. If you are originating from the Cancun airport, take the Riviera bus to Playa Del Carmen and transfer to Mahahual from there. Once in Mahahual there is no bus to Placer. Taxis are plentiful - the rate is $20 one way to Mayan Beach Garden (in Placer).

-All prices below are in Pesos-

Personal experience-- the ADO Bus:

". . .A couple of months ago I emailed you to ask questions about the bus schedule from Cancun to Mahahual. Just want to let you know I did it and it was a piece of cake. . .

Since my plane arrived in Cancun in late afternoon, I went to Playa on the direct first class ADO bus from the airport (There is an ADO terminal inside) and spent the night at a little place in Playa. The next morning I walked back to the ADO station and took the direct first class ADO bus to Mahahual. It leaves Playa at 8:20 and arrives about 12:30 in Mahahual with brief stops in Tulum, Carrillo Puerto (love those Salbutes), and Limones. Double check that 12:30 arrival time if you are passing this info on. The same morning bus also leaves Cancun about an hour earlier but I figured spending the night in Playa was a lot more pleasant than in downtown Cancun. Could walk to hotel from bus station and to beach and out to dinner. There are 2 other direct buses from Cancun to Mahahual but they involve traveling during the night. Not my style. As far as the return, I went from Limones on the bus from Chetumal so I don't know the Mahahual schedule but the exciting thing to me is that it can be done very easily. Buses are so clean, comfortable, and cheap.

The vast majority of your clients rent cars as my family did the 2 years we came, but there might be someone who wants the tranquility of the Beach Garden without the expense and hassle involved in car rental.

For some reason they don't yet list the Cancun - Mahahual direct bus online but it exists. "
